Brigadier John Anderson Barstow MC (2 May 1893 – 3 January 1941) was a British Army officer, the younger brother of Major-General Arthur Edward Barstow and son of Lieutenant Colonel Thomas Adam Anderson Barstow of the Seaforth Highlanders and Jane Cape Barstow. John Barstow was born 2 May 1893 and died 3 January 1941.
Major-General Arthur Edward "Bustling Bill" Barstow, CIE, MC (17 March 1888 – 28 January 1942) was a British Indian Army officer who commanded the 9th Indian Division during the Battle of Malaya. He was killed by the Japanese on active service in 1942 while trying to cross a demolished railway bridge near Layang Layang village.

In the late 1980s, he met Diana Griffiths who was beginning to learn her trade as a writer with Barstow's help. [4] He and Connie Kershaw separated in 1990, though never divorced. Stan started a new life with Griffiths, now a writer in her own right, with eight original plays and nearly twenty dramatisations to her credit.
