Tybee Island (/ ˌ t aɪ b ɪ / TYE-bee) is a city and a barrier island in Chatham County, Georgia, 18 miles (29 km) east of Savannah. The name is used for both the city and the island, but geographically the two are not identical: only part of the island's territory lies within the city itself. The island is Georgia's easternmost point.
Tybee Island is the only coastal resort in Georgia comparable to other examples in the American coastal resort movement such as Cape May, New Jersey, Long Branch, New Jersey, and Nantucket, Massachusetts. The NRHP nomination expands on this: Tybee Island is the only example of the American coastal resort movement in Georgia.

Fort Jackson is located at 1 Fort Jackson Road, [4] on the Islands Expressway linking Savannah to Fort Pulaski and the town of Tybee Island. [2] Fort Jackson is owned by the state of Georgia and operated as a museum by the Coastal Heritage Society.
