Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) (formerly Arunachal University) is the oldest university in the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh. It is located at Rono Hills in Doimukh town, about 28km from the state capital, Itanagar. The foundation stone for the university was laid in 1984 by then-Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

The clinical training was initially at the present District General Hospital in Gulbarga. From 2005, all clinical teaching activity was moved to hospitals operated by the college, Basaveshwara Teaching and General Hospital, Gulbarga and Sangameshwar Teaching Hospital to satisfy Medical Council of India requirements.
The college offers a four-and-a-half-year MBBS course affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences with a one-year compulsory rotating internship. There are 150 seats: 40% admissions are through a state level CET, 40% through the COMED-K entrance test, 15% through the NRI quota and 5% through the Management discretionary quota.
