The 2022 Toronto municipal election was held on October 24, 2022, to elect the mayor and 25 city councillors in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. In addition, school trustees were elected to the Toronto District School Board , Toronto Catholic District School Board , Conseil scolaire Viamonde and Conseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir .
Prior to the election, the province of Ontario passed the Strong Mayors Act, which granted the office of mayor additional powers including the development of the budget, creating council committees, appointing the chairs and vice chairs of those committees, the power to reorganize departments, appointing department heads, and appointing the city manager.
In 2018, just before that year's provincial election, the Ontario government of Doug Ford passed the Better Local Government Act, which redefined the number and representation of Toronto City Council.
