The Vintage Seiko Valuation Guide. Somewhat inspired by the excellent Speedmaster101 , Jim W and I have been working on documenting what we think are expected values for a variety of vintage Seikos. It's by no means complete, it's by no means a byword in accuracy, but as Bart Simpson says, My Bubble, My Rules.
Below is a massive project that has been the better part of the last year in the process. Thanks to the generosity of some of our members (especially Gary Fredericks) we have been able to scan and collect a large collection of vintage seiko catalogs ranging from the late 1960s to H2 1985. We hope to add to this database as more donations from ...
Any other color is at least redial or fake! The Seiko Lord marvel 5740-8000 was build from 1966 until 1978, when it was discontinued. There were 2 other watches to have this 5740C movement, these are pocket watches. The model numbers for these watches are 5740-0080 and 5740-8010.
Seiko did correct some of their less desirable design approaches in the 7002 in the design of the subsequent 7s26, while still retaining their focus on robustness and economy. In the 7Sxx series of movements Seiko made the power reserve a little longer by increasing the number of cap jewels (7s26= 21J vs. 7002=17J).
Returning to the 562xx series, in 1971 Seiko undertook a major redesign of the case and dial of the “standard” KS 5626-7000 pictured above, resulting in the 5626-7110. For many people this watch is the epitome of the automatic King Seiko. In very superficial terms, the case retains the look of the 5626-7000, although the lugs are more ...
DX:(Sub-brand) - A line of inexpensive Seiko Automatics consisting predominantly (but not exclusively) of caliber 6106 (a, b & c) & 70xx caliber powered automatics, produced during the 1960's, 70's & early 80’s. These watches were produced during a time in which Seiko experimented widely with design.

If you look for older ones with faceted crystals there is more or less unlimetid choices. of watches from the 70`s. But please be careful these crystals to damage easely and might be hard to find an. replacement. Here is a few more samples from the good old 70`s. Seiko Lordmatic 5606-7340, green dial with gold from 74.
T and TAD on Seiko's from the 60's. Many vintage Seiko owners are staring at watches with "T" or "R" or "RAD" or "TAD" printed - usually along the bottom margin of the dial. No amount of googling seems to yield a clear answer to what these codes mean. Perhaps the two most helpful (but ultimately confusing) are these:
Replacement hands from Seiko will have a three dimensional appearance, and where intended for Seikos latter SKX series of watches. MOVEMENT: 6309’s use a form of Seiko’s workhorse 17 jewel 6300 series automatic caliber. The movement cannot be manually wound; is non-hacking; and has crown operated quickset day/date calendar mechanisms.
