Joliet Township was incorporated on November 6, 1849. The first election took place in 1850, but the township’s foundation was laid some twenty years earlier by pioneer settlers who came to the region by way of an old Indian trail known as the Sauk or Sac Trail.
Emergency Assistance is available to those who do not qualify for the Township’s General Assistance program. For rental payments assistance, the applicant must have a current 5-day Eviction notice from the property owner, and proof that they are 5 days or more behind in their rent.
