In 1970, voters in Olmsted Falls and Westview (also known as West View) voted to merge their two villages, which were roughly the same size, under the name Olmsted Falls. The merger became effective at the beginning of 1971. In 1972, the state recognized Olmsted Falls as Ohio’s 231st city because it had a population of more than 5,000 people. [9]
