The 100 proof has a hint of ripe banana along with toffee and powdered sugar notes. It has a surprisingly good finish for being like $25. And it makes an exceptional old fashioned! Proof: 86. Mashbill: 72% Corn, 18% Rye, 10% Malted Barley. Nose: some musty oak, over-ripe banana (brown), bown sugar, hint of vanilla.

Please read the sub rules before posting. Review #749: Old Forester Whiskey Row Series 1924. Old Forester 1924 is the talk of the town right now and everyone has an opinion on it. The 1910 in particular has become a mainstay on my shelf and one of my go-to daily sippers. Old Forester 1910. ABV: 46.5%. Age: NAS. Setup: neat in rocks glass. Nose: toasty oak and cherry with a hint of vanilla. Palate: rich, thick mouthfeel - always a pleasant surprise given the lower proof. I get lots of brown sugar and molasses on the palate.

The in-house cooperage, even if just for show, really sets the Old Forester tour apart, as well as it's common sense construction, going from grain, to mash, to fermenting, to distilling, the cooperage, the rickhouse (albeit nontraditional), unlike some other tours that jump around the process (or jump all around a massive campus).

First the basics - Old Forester Birthday Bourbon's release is timed with George Garvin Brown's birthday - September 2nd.
