Bronco II - Idle Air Control - 1985 Bronco II - Carbureted 2.8L V6 does not want to idle. It will start right up but only stays running if continuously feathering the throttle at around 2,000 RPM. Is there a way to test the idle air control valve (harness and solenoid itself) using a Power Probe, multimeter, etc.?
The Ford 2.2L diesels were kinda weak or had a bad rep, but the 2.3L turbodiesels weren't too bad, if I remember right. The old Nissan diesels are good, as well as Isuzu, Volkswagen and Toyota. You could get really oddball and find a Kubota, John Deere, or Caterpillar 4-cylinder diesel and swap it in.
