The main difference in the 'diabetic' cat foods is their lower carb content. There is nothing special about the food that would affect the non-diabetic cat. Cats don't need to eat carbs. Their bodies are specially adapted to take the protein and fats in their diet and convert that to glycogen to give them all the energy they need.
Primal and Stella & Chewy are all low carb because they are freeze-dried raw foods. I give both of my cats, even the diabetic one, Dr. Elsey's chicken kibble as treats. They love it and it doesn't give them any GI issues. The salmon formula is a little higher in carbs, 9% I believe.

I called the other day to ask about Phosphorous content, and got the following info: Chicken 0.51% Phos. Duck 0.89%. Salmon & Chick 0.53%. Turkey 0.70%. if watching phos content for CKD (kidney) kitties - lower is better and 0.5 or less is recommended but I think the chicken flavors are "close enough". phoebe.

For me personally, they really come in handy when I'm shopping for cat food.
The additional nutritional information on the Hartz Delectables Cat Treats is as follows. The Phosphorus is approximately 0.14%. So based on a 40 g pouch there is approximately 0.056 g Phosphorus in the 40 g serving. They also contains 1.92% Carbohydrates and salt content is 0.6%. The problem is food, KD is for renal problems and has a lot more sugar content (carbohydrate) then food for diabetic cats (less than 10% suggested). I want to know if there is a type of food that is specifically made for cats that are diabetic and have also kidney problems, food with less protein and less carbohydrate.
