Word has a max paper size limit of 22"x22". Excel paper size limits are determined by the printer. So, in theory if your printer can handle poster size paper (ie go to a print shop) you could print on a single page. Otherwise, define a Print Area to limit unwanted blank pages:

In reply to TatianaBennett's post on March 18, 2018. Go to File>Options>Advanced and under the Print section of the dialog, uncheck the box for "Scale content for A4 or 8.5 x 11" paper sizes. If that doesn't overcome the issue, send me a copy of the document, referencing this thread in the covering email message, I will investigate the issue.
Measure that - let's say that it is 45 inches wide and you want it to be 36 inches wide. Figure out the scaling that you need to get the final size you want by dividing the desired by the actual 36/45 = 80%. Re-set the scaling to 80% and your final print will be 36 inches wide. For example - one slide is 24 x 36, I could update the dimensions slightly so that it could print across 4 11x17 pieces of paper and from a distance look as though it was one slide. Initially I was going to take my presentation (intended for a tri-fold poster board) to Kinko's, but it turns out to be too expensive.
