Good point about not using brand-y capitalization, but I do think the title should still be The New York Times crossword instead of The New York Times crossword puzzle, as the official branding for the NYT crossword, most external references to the NYT crossword, and the Wikipedia page Crossword all ditch the "puzzle" by default.
