Express News is an Urdu language Pakistani television news channel based in Lahore, launched on 1 January 2008. [1] [2] [3] It is owned by Lakson Group which also runs the country's third largest Urdu daily newspaper, Daily Express. The owners of the channel, launched 'Express 24/7', a 24-hour Pakistani English news channel on 5 February 2009. [1]
Lakson Group launched Daily Express in 1998 with a novel approach to newspaper distribution in Pakistan, headquartered in Lahore instead of the conventional hub, Karachi. [1] This decision was underpinned by an assertion that Punjab province, with Lahore as its capital, housed more Urdu newspaper readers than Karachi. [1]
The Express Tribune joins other brands of the Express media group including the Urdu-language Daily Express newspaper. It is accompanied by a twenty-four-hour Urdu news channel, Express News, and an Urdu entertainment channel, Express Entertainment. It also contains a technology supplement called '@internet'.
