Lots of time spent. I found that an Intel sound driver was corrupt, even after the Windows 10 reinstallation and upgrade to Windows 11. I disabled and then deleted the app in the Device Manager and then restarted. VOILA!! It worked! Look at the Intel apps in the Device Manager. A bad one might have a yellow triangle warning.

The DEVICE is what we used to call The Sound Card. The DRIVER is what makes the DEVICE work after the OS system recognizes there is a sound DEVICE. If you have no DEVICE, there is no use trying to find the DRIVER for it. In summary, it looks like the Windows OS software change somehow disconnected the hardware DEVICE from the computer internally.
The only thing, so far, that has helped a little is restarting the services Windows Audio and Windows Audio Endpoint Builder. Windows Audio needs to be started rather than restarted. Sometimes after doing this, I have access to the speaker and microphone for a few seconds. A couple of times it came on later for a few seconds.
