Brodick (/ ˈ b r ɒ d ɪ k / BROD-ik, [4] Scottish Gaelic: Tràigh a' Chaisteil ("Castle Beach") or Breadhaig) is the main village on the Isle of Arran, [5] in the Firth of Clyde, Scotland. It is halfway along the east coast of the island, in Brodick Bay below Goat Fell, the tallest mountain on Arran.
The usual island population of 1,376 as recorded by the 2011 census was a slight fall from the 2001 figure of 1,434. The population increases substantially during the summer tourist season. The island has an active and engaged community with a wide range of interest groups represented in the many clubs and associations on the island. [7]
