The Cabinet of Benin is under the authority of the President, and serves to advise and help formulate strategies. It also liaises with ministries and other government institutions. A total of seven people have served as President (not counting two acting presidents, several interim military officeholders and a collective presidency).

He has been a Member of Parliament since 2003 before being elected president of the National Assembly of Benin on 17 May 2019 with 78 votes, 1 against and 3 abstentions.
Thomas Boni Yayi (born 1 July 1951) is a Beninese banker and politician who was the president of Benin from 2006 to 2016. He took office after winning the March 2006 presidential election and was re-elected to a second term in March 2011.
Tahirou Congacou (1911 – 15 June 1993) [1] [2] was a Beninese politician, most active during the 1960s, when his country was known as Dahomey.He served as President of the National Assembly from 1964 to 1965, [3] and in that capacity served as acting President of Benin from 29 November 1965 to 22 December 1965.
