Abdominal pain, also known as a stomach ache, is a symptom associated with both non-serious and serious medical issues. Since the abdomen contains most of the body's vital organs, it can be an indicator of a wide variety of diseases.
It absorbs water and expands in the stomach and small bowel thereby increasing feelings of fullness. Possible side effects include primarily gastrointestinal symptoms, [ 2 ] such as diarrhea , abdominal distention , infrequent bowel movements, constipation , abdominal pain , and flatulence . [ 3 ]
