Maka determines that the source behind Crona's madness is the neglect he suffered as a child under Medusa, causing Crona to withdraw from other people. The livejournal comment that the idiot above me quoted was in response to a rumor that Ohkubo named the series "Soul Eater" in reference to a yet-to-be-revealed villain. No, the series name "Soul Eater" does not refer to a villain.
