Several of our forumites, in conjunction with the gracious hospitality of the Captain's Quarters are putting together a charity event- think of it as “Shrimp & Grits 2”. We are calling it The Rumble at the River, a Seafood Chowder Throwdown ; the beneficiary is to benefit The Hope Center for Growth, a local camp for autistic children. .
Then, there's one of my favorites growing up, New Orleans East. I got to go there only on special occasions. Loved the king crab legs, seafood chowder, and all the other stuff on that seafood buffet, and recall eagerly anticipating the appearance of waiters who would come around occasionally carrying a platter of fried frog legs.

Menu looks exciting. Wish there was a bit more seafood offered. Thank you for sharing the information. I'll admit, after having been a bartender and bar manager for years (albeit years and years ago) the first thing I checked out was the drink menu.( Especially in a Bourbon Club bar.)
This question comes in from a reader who's eager to chomp down on this Northeastern coastal treat. I recall that Chef Mike Hungerford made an outstanding model at the old Seafood Connection, but he left there for Coals (and then for points unknown), and now Seafood Connection is gone. Does anyone else make a good one, as far as any of you know?

First course was a choice of bibb salad with orange segments, walnuts and blue cheese vinaigrette or the soup of the day which was seafood chowder. Carol ordered the salad and I had the chowder. While we were waiting they brought around a fresh bread basket with a choice of three kinds of house-made bread or rolls.
