Copy editing (also known as copyediting and manuscript editing) is the process of revising written material ("copy") to improve quality and readability, as well as ensuring that a text is free of errors in grammar, style, and accuracy.
Articles in need of basic copyediting may be tagged with templates, such as {} or {{copyedit-section}}. A list of such articles can be found in a few places. Copy editing is the process of making improvements to an article—correcting spelling and improving grammar, sentence structure, style and flow to make it clear, correct, concise, comprehensible, and consistent; and make it say what it means and mean what it says. In Wikipedia, we follow the guidelines in the Manual of Style (MoS). [1]
Simply replacing strong, neutral verbs, such as "said" or "wrote", with words of similar meaning, such as "elaborated" and "opined", is not the solution, and can be distracting or misleading (see WP:SAID and WP:ELEVAR). Vary sentence rhythm. Sentences of a similar length, or with a similar structure, are monotonous.
