Bladen County (/ ˈ b l eɪ d ən /) [1] is a county located in the U.S. state of North Carolina. As of the 2020 census, the population was 29,606. [2] Its county seat is Elizabethtown. [3] The county was created in 1734 as Bladen Precinct and gained county status in 1739. [4]

It is one of 15 townships within the county. It is 94 square miles (240 km 2) in total area, and is located in east-central Bladen County. In the town, the population was spread out, with 22.8% under the age of 18, 6.5% from 18 to 24, 24.9% from 25 to 44, 25.3% from 45 to 64, and 20.4% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 42 years. For every 100 females, there were 85.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 78.0 males.
