Beresford (/ ˈ b ɪər z f ər d /; BEERZ-fərd) [7] is a city in Lincoln and Union counties in the U.S. state of South Dakota.The population was 2,180 as of the 2020 census. [4] The southern two-thirds is part of the Sioux City, IA-NE-SD Metropolitan Statistical Area, while the northern one-third is part of the Sioux Falls Metropolitan Statistical Area.
During the earliest years of the Beresford Republic, a second newspaper was also published in the city of Beresford, South Dakota. That newspaper was the Beresford News; and, it was eventually merged with the Beresford Republic during the early twentieth century. The combined newspaper was published under the title, the Beresford Republic.

The Governor William J. Bulow House, located at 207 W. Hemlock St. in Beresford, South Dakota, was built in 1893. [2] It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986. [ 1 ]
