The German University in Cairo (abbreviated to GUC; Arabic: الجامعة الألمانية بالقاهرة El Gam‘a El Almāniya Bel Qāhira) is a private non-profit university in New Cairo, Egypt. GUC was founded in 2002 by the presidential decree 27/2002 and according to the Egyptian law number 101/1992.

The graduates of the school were eligible to attend Egyptian universities by January 1958. In 1959, the school's first Arabic division director, Auni Abder Rauf, was appointed. On 1 March 1977, the school was relocated to Dokki. In 2001, the school added a new course called "koeducative" religion for Muslim and Christian students. [3]
