Conroe Independent School District (CISD) is a school district in Montgomery County, Texas. The current superintendent has been Dr. Curtis Null since June 2018. [ 3 ] As of April 2024, Conroe ISD was the 9th largest school district in Texas and 60th largest in the United States.
Also, in 1972 La Feria hired the first Mexican American counselor. By 1974 Mexican Americans were visible at all levels of La Feria school system. There were two principals, one at Sam Houston Elementary and one at La Feria High School, one counselor and six teachers at the high school and various teachers at the elementary and middle school level.

Deerwood is in the eastern part of the county, 10 miles (16 km) east of Conroe, the county seat, and 2 miles (3 km) southeast of Texas State Highway 105. It is within the southwestern corner of Sam Houston National Forest , and is bordered to the south by Conroe Division of the BNSF Railway .
All Houston ISD schools except Bellaire High School, Pin Oak Middle School , West University Elementary School (West University Place), Condit Elementary School (Bellaire), and Horn Elementary School (Bellaire) are in the city limits of Houston. Formerly Gordon Elementary School and Mandarin Immersion Magnet School were in the Bellaire city limits.

In March 1919 the school burned down. A new Sam Houston opened two years later. [4] According to a 1936 Houston Chronicle article, Sam Houston was to be renamed after Dick Dowling, while the Sam Houston name would be taken by a new high school in southwestern Houston. This did not occur, and the school remained named after Sam Houston. [4]
