Although the present campus was opened in 1999, [5] its roots trace back to 1914 and Frederic E. Willett, M.D., who was involved with Steamboat Springs’ first public hospital. In 1946, the Steamboat Springs Hospital Association's board selected the location for The Routt County Memorial Hospital, which opened in 1950. [6]

Steamboat Lake State Park is a Colorado state park located in Routt County 27 miles (43 km) north of Steamboat Springs, Colorado, and near the community of Hahns Peak Village. The 2,820-acre (1,140 ha) park land west of Hahns Peak was acquired in 1966. [2] It and the 1,101 acres (446 ha) reservoir was opened to the public in 1972.
The Crawford House was the primary residence of James Harvey Crawford, the "Father of Steamboat Springs", and his wife, Margaret Emerine (Bourn) Crawford, the "Mother of Routt County." James first saw the Yampa River in the Spring of 1874. He staked his 160-acre homestead claim centered around the Steamboat Spring.
