Oswego (/ ɒ s ˈ w iː ɡ oʊ /) is a city in Oswego County, New York, United States.The population was 16,921 at the 2020 census. [2] Oswego is situated at the mouth of the Oswego River on the southeastern shore of Lake Ontario in Upstate New York, about 40 miles (64 km) northwest of Syracuse and 74 miles (119 km) east-northeast of Rochester by road.
New York State Route 104 (NY 104) is a 182.41-mile-long (293.56 km) east–west state highway in Upstate New York in the United States. It spans six counties and enters the vicinity of four cities—Niagara Falls, Lockport, Rochester, and Oswego—as it follows a routing largely parallel to the southern shoreline of Lake Ontario, along a ridge of the old shoreline of Glacial Lake Iroquois. The route extends for 17.38 miles (27.97 km) from an intersection with NY 104 and NY 370 south of the village of Red Creek in Wayne County to a junction with NY 104 southwest of the city of Oswego. NY 104A spans three counties, serves two villages (Red Creek and Fair Haven) and parallels Lake Ontario for much of its length.
The NY 57 corridor remained unchanged until the late 1950s when construction began on a new roadway to replace the existing two-lane, curvy routing of NY 57 between Fulton and Oswego. It was completed by 1960. [14] [15] In the mid-1960s, construction began on an expressway linking Fulton to I-81 in North Syracuse.

The southern terminus of the route is located at Interstate 690 (I-690) exit 3 near the interchange between I-690 and the New York State Thruway in Van Buren, northwest of Syracuse.
NY 3F was an alternate route of NY 3 between Red Creek and Southwest Oswego. [18] It became part of the new US 104 c. 1935. [19] [20] NY 3G was initially a connector between Deferiet and Carthage; [18] it was later reassigned to a northerly alternate route of NY 3 between Deferiet and Fargo. The designation was removed in the mid-1940s.
Crossing the Oswego River, Route 104 continues eastward. [7] Crossing over the Salmon River on NY 3 and the Seaway Trail. Just before the hamlet of New Haven, the Seaway Trail veers northeast onto NY 104B at its western terminus. Route 104B approaches the lake shore again as it heads toward the hamlet of Texas.
