Smart Communications Inc., commonly referred to as Smart, is a wholly owned wireless communications and digital services subsidiary of PLDT Inc., [1] a telecommunications and digital services provider based in the Philippines. [2] As of November 2023, it is currently the largest mobile network with 55.2 million subscribers. [3]
PLDT (PHI) and its wireless subsidiary, Smart Communications, launch an educational campaign regarding the safety of cell sites while bolstering their network expansion efforts.
Moving forward, on April 1, 2000, Piltel signed a facilities-sharing agreement with competitor Smart Communications to be able to provide wireless services using Smart's GSM network. As the number of subscribers grew, both PLDT and Globe Telecom rapidly expanded their Time-Division Duplex-Long Term Evolution (TD-LTE) services for Fixed Wireless Broadband. According to PLDT, they spent P2 billion of its P28.8 billion capital expenditure for 2013 to bring TD-LTE technology to customers’ homes.
