Genetic Counsellors are required by law to register with the HPCSA in order to practice as genetic counsellors. At the end of the training period, registrants submit a portfolio to the HPCSA for assessment. If successful, the intern will be registered with the HPCSA and will be able to practice as a genetic counsellor in South Africa.
