Carlos María de la Torre y Navacerrada (27 February 1809 – 2 December 1879) was a Spanish soldier and politician. He served as the governor-general of the Philippines from 1869 to 1871, and is considered one of the most beloved Spanish governors-general assigned to the Philippines .
The Guardia Civil was introduced to the Philippines by the Spanish colonial government in 1868, during the term of Governor-General Carlos María de la Torre y Navacerrada. [2] The organization began with a size of one division or around 1,200 men. [ 1 ]

Berdan primers are named after their American inventor, Hiram Berdan of New York who invented his first variation of the Berdan primer and patented it on March 20, 1866, in U.S. patent 53,388. Unlike the USGI ammo, which has non-corrosive Boxer primers, it has corrosive Berdan primers. The cases have longitudinal scratches along the sides, like they have been reloaded. The bullet has a black sealant at its base and the primer has a clear pinkish-red sealant rather than an opaque red sealant. They come packed in 50-round cartons.
Carlos María Javier de la Torre y Nieto (15 November 1873, Quito, Ecuador – 31 July 1968, Quito, Ecuador) was an Ecuadorian cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church. Archbishop of Quito, he was elevated to the cardinalate in 1953 by Pope Pius XII , the first Ecuadorian to be admitted to the College of Cardinals.
