The following is a list of legislative terms of the Arkansas General Assembly, the law-making branch of government of the U.S. state of Arkansas. Arkansas became part of the United States on June 15, 1836 .
Districts for the two bodies constituting the General Assembly, the Arkansas House of Representatives (100 members) and the Arkansas Senate (35 senators), is controlled by the three-member Arkansas Board of Apportionment, consisting of the Governor of Arkansas, the Attorney General of Arkansas, and the Arkansas Secretary of State, since 1936.
The U.S. state of Arkansas currently has four United States congressional districts. The state has had as many as seven districts; the 5th district existed from 1883 through 1963. The 6th existed from 1893 to 1963. The 7th existed from 1903 to 1953. No Democrat has won a House seat in the state since 2012.
Elections in the Arkansas Senate are staggered such that half the body is up for re-election every two years. Since the late 20th century, the Senate has 35 members from districts of approximately equal population. These districts are redrawn decennially with each US census. The entire state senate was up for reelection in 2012.

Arkansas House Districts 83, 98, and 99 cover parts of Boone County, as well as Arkansas Senate Districts 16 and 17. At the federal level, Boone County is part of Arkansas's third US congressional district, currently represented by Steve Womack. Over the past few election cycles, Boone County has trended heavily towards the GOP.
