Sringaram is a 2007 Indian Tamil-language period drama film directed by debutante Sharada Ramanathan, a cultural activist.Co-written by novelist Indra Soundar Rajan and produced by Padmini Ravi, herself a dancer, [1] [2] it stars Aditi Rao Hydari, in her Tamil film debut, in the lead role alongside Manoj K. Jayan, Hamsa Moily and Y. Gee. Mahendra.
Her first feature film, Sringaram (2007), is a period film and depicts the life of a Devadasi. [7] After getting screened at various film festivals, [8] the film had its theatrical release in 2007 and went on to win three National Film Awards and two Tamil Nadu State Film Awards. [6] [9] The film was critically acclaimed.
Sringaram had a limited theatrical release in October 2007, but won positive reviews, with one critic noting that "the film has brilliant acting from the lead, Aditi Rao". [24] [25] Her first film to have a theatrical release, however, was the Malayalam film Prajapathi (2006), in which she starred alongside Mammootty.
