In January 1961, Roselle Park voters rejected a proposal for the construction of a new high school that would have cost $2.5 million to build (equivalent to $25.5 million in 2023). Roselle Park was incorporated as a borough by an act of the New Jersey Legislature on March 22, 1901, from portions of Union Township.
