This is a list of islands of the Kingdom of Bahrain, which includes most of the archipelago known as the Bahrain Islands. [1] The Kingdom consists of 33 natural islands and a number of man-made ones.
Although the current twin cities of Manama and Muharraq appear to have been founded simultaneously in the 1800s, [2] Muharraq took prominence due to its defensive location and was thus the capital of Bahrain until 1923.
