The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) operates and maintains one welcome center and two rest areas along I-77. The welcome center, which has a travel information facility on site, is located in Fort Mill at milemarker 89 (southbound), and the rest areas are located in Richburg at milemarkers 65 (north and southbound) between exits 65 (SC 9) and 73 (SC 901).
A six-mile (9.7 km) portion south of the city is called the General Younts Expressway. When I-77 crosses over I-85 (which runs in an east–west direction through the interchange), the northbound lanes are to the west of the southbound lanes. North Carolina completed its section of I-77 in 1975.

South Carolina Highway 277 (SC 277) is a 8.140-mile (13.100 km) state highway in the U.S. state of South Carolina. It travels from U.S. Route 76 (US 76) in downtown Columbia to Interstate 77 (I-77; at its exit 18) in Dentsville in Richland County.
