The NYU Veterans Writing Workshop at New York University in Manhattan, New York is a free, non-partisan outreach program offered to the veteran community in and around New York City [1] and is considered by some as the pre-eminent writing workshop for veterans.

On 14 December 1990, Burlakov became Commander-in-Chief of the Western Group of Forces (WGF, the former Group of Soviet Forces in Germany). Burlakov was the first commander of the group who was not a World War II veteran, and the last of sixteen commanders-in-chief of the Soviet troops in Germany.
