Le Moyne College begins every academic year with two rituals: (1) 'Moving In Weekend,' when current students help to carry the boxes and suitcases of the new, first-year students into the dormitories; and (2) the Mass of the Holy Spirit, which continues a tradition dating back to the first Jesuit school, established in Messina, Sicily, in 1548 (probably preceding this date).
The hardwood playing surface within the Events Center is named Ted Grant Court [5] [6] in honor of G. Edward Grant, a member of Le Moyne's inaugural class of 1951. Linda M. LeMura (born April 25, 1960) is an American scientist and academic who is the current and 14th President of Le Moyne College in Syracuse, N.Y., the youngest of the 27 Jesuit colleges and universities in the United States.
