U.S. Route 341 (US 341) is a 224-mile-long (360 km) U.S. highway entirely in the U.S. state of Georgia.It travels diagonally across southern Georgia (but is signed as north–south) from Brunswick at US 17/SR 25 to Barnesville at US 41/SR 7/SR 18.
It was used for decades as a transportation and communication center up and down coastal Georgia. The County split off from Liberty County in 1793. The new county was named McIntosh for its most famous family, which included Lachlan McIntosh, who was a general in the Continental Army. The McIntosh clan in Darien dates back to 1736. [3] [4] [5]
Bartow County was created from the Cherokee lands of the Cherokee County territory on December 3, 1832, and named Cass County, after General Lewis Cass (1782–1866), Secretary of War under President Andrew Jackson, Minister to France and Secretary of State under President James Buchanan, [3] who was instrumental in the removal of Native Americans from the area.
Chauncey is located in southeastern Dodge County at (32.104972, -83.065991 U.S. Routes 23 and 341 pass concurrently through the center of town, leading northwest 9 miles (14 km) to Eastman, the county seat, and east 10 miles (16 km) to McRae.
