Udhayanidhi was born on 27 November 1977 as the son of M. K. Stalin, Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, and the grandson of one of the longest serving Chief Ministers of Tamil Nadu, M. Karunanidhi.He attended the Don Bosco school and has a degree in commerce from Loyola College in Chennai.

The film stars Vadivelu as the title character, along with Fahadh Faasil, Keerthy Suresh, and Udhayanidhi in his final acting credit.
It is produced by Udhayanidhi Stalin under Red Giant Movies. The film stars Vijay in the main lead role alongside Trisha, Suman, Vivek, Ashish Vidyarthi and Manivannan. Kuruvi released on 3 May 2008. It received mixed reviews from critics, but overall was a commercial success and completed a 150-day theatrical run.
