P4 (pe fyra) is a national radio channel produced by the Swedish public broadcaster Sveriges Radio.P4 was started in 1987 as a network of regional stations, but national programming was added in 1993 when P3 was relaunched as a specialist youth channel and P4 took over a large part of P3's former programming intended for a more adult audience.
The channel began life on 26 November 1955 as Sweden's second radio channel. [1] In 1966, SR gave its channels distinct profiles, making P2 the channel for education, regional programming, and "serious" music. Regional radio later became local radio and was moved to P3 – still later to P4 – leaving P2 with the profile it has today.
SR P1 can be heard in Sweden on FM and DAB, also worldwide via the internet. Part of the P1 schedule is also relayed by the Radio Sweden 1 satellite channel. The name P1 was originally an abbreviation of Program 1. This is however no longer the case and the channel is now formally called just P1 (pe ett in Swedish).
Using Radio Sweden's relatively high-powered medium wave transmitter on 1179 kHz, the entire program was 90 minutes in length, and featured many satirical sketches, often political and sometimes controversial. A 30-minute segment of the entire broadcast was the Radio Sweden shortwave program on Saturdays.

Sveriges Radio P3 (P3) is a semi-mainstream CHR/CHR Alternative-formatted station operated by Sweden's national publicly funded radio broadcasting organization Sveriges Radio. The P in P3 originally stood for Program (Programme) but today has no official meaning and is simply a name. P3 was officially similar and related to BBC Radio 1.
