In November 2018, Gamble confirmed that like Hidden Bodies, the sequel novel to You, the setting of the series would move to Los Angeles for the second season. [5] [6] On December 3, 2018, it was confirmed that Lifetime had passed on the series and that Netflix picked up the series ahead of the release of the second season. [7]
On February 23, 2019, it was announced that Netflix had given the production a straight-to-series order consisting of seven episodes. The series was created by Ian Brennan, and Ryan Murphy. Brennan and Murphy were also set to executive produce the series alongside Darren Criss and David Corenswet. [7] The series was released on May 1, 2020. [1]
The season was originally slated for a December 2023 release on Netflix but was delayed by the strikes. [16] Later details reported that it would release in late 2024. Netflix hasn’t confirmed a premiere date for season two, but since the renewal was announced in November 2022, we’re guessing it’ll be a while before fans get to catch up with the Brannocks.
