The Siskiyou Mountains are a coastal subrange of the Klamath Mountains, and located in northwestern California and southwestern Oregon in the United States.They extend in an arc for approximately 100 miles (160 km) from east of Crescent City, California, northeast along the north side of the Klamath River into Josephine and Jackson counties in Oregon.
The Siskiyou Mountains form the watershed boundary between the Klamath and Rogue Rivers and are also a rough natural separator between Oregon and California. The summit on Interstate 5 is about 12 miles (19 km) south of Ashland, Oregon, 25 miles (40 km) north of Yreka, California, and 0.5 miles (0.80 km) east of the historical Siskiyou Pass, the most used mountain pass in the state. The pass is situated in Jackson County on the road and rail transport link between Oregon and California.It measures 4,129 feet (1,259 m) above MSL.Situated along Oregon Route 273 (also known as Old Highway 99), it is 5 miles (8.0 km) north of California state boundary, and 0.5 miles (0.80 km) west of the I-5 summit feature, Siskiyou Summit.
