Some commercially produced maps show US 89 going through Yellowstone National Park; however, it officially has a gap inside the park and resumes in Wyoming at the South Entrance. US 89 travels north along the Yellowstone River for 52.9 miles (85.1 km) to Livingston, where it heads east along a 7.5-mile (12.1 km) concurrency with I-90/US 191.

Near the White Cliffs, US-89 meets SR-9 at Mt. Carmel Junction, where travelers can turn to reach Zion National Park. The final "step" is the Pink Cliffs , where the highway follows alongside the Virgin River to the highest point on US-89 in southern Utah and the east end of SR-14 , a summit at Long Valley Junction ( elevation 7450 feet/2300 m).
The Lodge is a simplified version of the National Park Service Rustic style. The location is close to the reputed campsites of U.S. Presidents Chester A. Arthur and Theodore Roosevelt. In commemoration of Roosevelt's 1903 visit, a tent camp called Camp Roosevelt was set up by the Wylie Permanent Camping Company. [3]
