The grounds of Knebworth House near the village of Knebworth had been a major venue for open air rock and pop concerts since 1974. In 1979, veteran promoter Freddy Bannister booked Led Zeppelin to play that year's concerts which took place on 4 August [1] and 11 August [2] after the bandleader of the Electric Light Orchestra, Jeff Lynne, turned down the offer to headline the festival.
Support bands included Fairport Convention and Chas and Dave. The Beach Boys headlined the 1980 Knebworth concert, which would prove to be the last UK performance of the band's original lineup. Drummer Dennis Wilson would die in 1983 from drowning. Part of their set was released on CD and DVD in 2002 as Good Timin': Live at Knebworth England 1980.

An all-female band is a band which has consisted entirely of female musicians for at least three-quarters of its active career. This article only lists all-female bands who perform original material that is either authored by themselves or authored by another musician for that band's use. Therefore vocal groups (girl groups) are not included.
But there are a lot of successful female artists that don’t fall under the pop genre. And while we do see some big names towards the top of set lists — M.I.A., Elle King, HAIM, Ellie Goulding — the list of female artists that make it onto lineups seem to be a small pool of the same people.
