Old Hickory is the site of a country club, large golf course, city park, a Chamber of Commerce, and the DuPont plant, which has been mostly shut down but continues to employ a few hundred workers. Old Hickory Mall opened in 1967. It was developed by Hewitt Pegues Tomlin, Jr. and his sister, Francess Tigrett. [2] The mall included a branch of Kisber's, a department store that had been a downtown Jackson fixture since 1906. Around 1978, the mall was enclosed, and a new Kisber's department store was built behind the mall's original one. [3]
