From there, the Blueway meanders its way to quieter places like Williams Island State Archaeological Park. Williams Island divides the river channel with a 450-acre (1.8 km 2) tract of land inhabited only by wildlife. From about 1000 to 1650, this area was home to several Native American tribes. It is now managed by the Tennessee River Gorge Trust.
SR 287 now becomes Great Falls Road and continues east to pass through Rock Island State Park, where it passes by the Great Falls Dam and crosses the mouth of the Collins River, before entering the community of Rock Island and come to an end at an intersection with SR 136 (Rock Island Road). The entire route of SR 287 is a two-lane highway.
