The waist–hip ratio or waist-to-hip ratio (WHR) is the dimensionless ratio of the circumference of the waist to that of the hips. This is calculated as waist measurement divided by hip measurement (W ⁄ H). For example, a person with a 75 cm waist and 95 cm hips (or a 30-inch waist and 38-inch hips) has WHR of about 0.79.
Breast volume will have an effect on the perception of a woman's figure even when bust/waist/hip measurements are nominally the same. Brassière band size is measured below the breasts, not at the bust. A woman with measurements of 36A–27–38 will have a different presentation than a woman with measurements of 34C–27–38.
Waist-to-hip ratios. The waist is the part of the abdomen between the rib cage and hips. Normally, it is the narrowest part of the torso. Waistline refers to the horizontal line where the waist is narrowest, or to the general appearance of the waist.
The waist is narrower than the chest region due to the breasts, and narrower than the hip region due to the width of the buttocks, which results in an hourglass figure. Apple: The stomach region is wider than the hip section, mainly in males. Pear or spoon or bell: The hip section is wider than the upper body, mainly in females. [citation needed]
There are multiple size types, designed to fit somewhat different body shapes. Variations include the height of the person's torso (known as back length), whether the bust, waist, and hips are straighter (characteristic of teenagers) or curvier (like many adult women), and whether the bust is higher or lower (characteristic of younger and older women, respectively).
Stand with your feet hip-width apart, and bend at the hips and knees to lower the barbell. Keep the bar close to your body, and stand up straight. Perform three sets of 10 to 12 reps.
The degree of circularity of an ellipse is quantified by eccentricity, with values between 0 to 1, where 0 is a perfect circle (waist circumference same as height) and 1 is a vertical line. [1] To accommodate human shape data in a greater range, Thomas and colleagues mapped eccentricity in a range of 1 to 20 by using the equation: [ 1 ]
