The District Clerk is responsible for managing the records so they are easily retrieved for court use and public information. The Wichita County District Clerks’ office maintains records that date back to 1882. As custodian of these permanent records, the Clerk must assure that they are preserved and archived.

Wichita County was established by act of the Texas legislature on February 1, 1858, from the Cooke Land District, and was attached to Clay County for judicial purposes. The new county was named for the Wichita Indians, and settlement was hindered by Indian attacks.
Current Election Information. Application for Ballot By Mail. A voter may hand-deliver his or her own by-mail ballot to the early voting clerk’s office during the hours the polls are open on Election Day only. An assistant or agent may NOT deliver a ballot for a voter; only the voter himself or herself may complete the hand-delivery.
