6. Dec 19, 2021. #24. I have had the CVA Hunter in .45-70 for about $200 and take a perverse pleasure in shooting groups this small with something so inexpensive, I absolutely love it. It wasn't easy getting it like this though. My groups would be nice 1" groups but would sting out to 3-5".
I wandered into my favorite LGS yesterday looking at the "stuff", and I came across a CVA Single Shot in .243. It was wearing a Burris scope, and the pre-owned price was $250 out the door. I have notta experience with CVA rifles beyond my BP front loaders, which are actually quite good. Anyone have any experience with the newer single shots?
Hey guys, just picked up a CVA Optima Elite 45-70 and have about 40 rounds through it so far. It has a nice heavy bergara barrel that i'm very impressed with. recoil was tolerable but from the factory with 300, and 405 grs, but the rifle felt overly barrel heavy... since the synthetic stock was hollow i flattened a 1# fishing weight and epoxied it in the butt. rifle handles much better now, i ...
45-70 Single shot-inexpensive. You can get an H&R Handi-Rifle in 45-70 and many other calibers for about $210 new. Trigger is heavy but it works and goes bang. A CVA Apex has a 25" stainless Bergara fluted barrel, much more crisp trigger, rail scope mount, and looks better, but cost about $500.
Mar 19, 2020. #1. Any one have a CVA Scout in 35 Remington? I guess there is a couple “variants” on this rifle. To me the spur on the Tguard is more appealing than the push button thingie. Wanting to get another single shot after being a long time Handi guy. 30/30 made sense as it’s about as perfect cast bullet caliber as anyone could ...

Chamberings I have are 219 Donaldson Wasp, 7X30 Waters, 30-30 Ackley Improved, 9.3X74R and 357 Maximum. ALL barrels will shoot under MOA at both 100 and 200 yards.
The only current production CVA centerfire rifle model that is a switch barrel is the Apex, the Scout doesn't have the option of interchangable barrels like the Apex or TC Encore and Contender. I plan on running a Hoppe's soaked patch through the bore and maybe a couple passes with a bronze brush to remove any packing grease and then patch dry. Do y'all recommend a barrel break in procedure for a new CVA Scout? At most I was maybe going to clean bore after each shot for the first 5 shots with a ammonia free copper remover and bronze ...

Shooting factory Federal 95 gr ammo at 100 yds I had a three shot group of 3/4 inch. I'm impressed with the CVA I bought under $200. Now I need one in 35 Remington. Reply Like.
