  3. Number of Cores in ANSYS Mechanical - CFD Online

    www.cfd-online.com/Forums/structural-mechanics/227149-number-cores-ansys...

Rep Power: 26. If you are using an older version of Mechanical (2019 R1 and before) click on Tools / Solve Process Settings / Advanced and enter the amount of CPUs and GPUs you want to use. If you are using a newer version of Mechanical (2019 R2 and after) which has the new GUI with the ribbon layout then cores are set in the Home tab.

  4. [ANSYS Meshing] Mesh Matching at interface between two parts

    www.cfd-online.com/Forums/ansys-meshing/184820-mesh-matching-interface-between...

Rep Power: 23. There are two ways to impose matching. Match control: In the mesh settings you can introduce match control and select both the faces where you want matching mesh. Shared topology: In the CAD program you can introduce shared topology for both the bodies. With shared topology ansys mesh will mesh both the bodies as if they were one.

  5. Single v.s. double precision -- CFD Online Discussion Forums

I think from memory my last comparison (on a Intel Xeon/WinXP machine) double precision took 30%-50% longer than single precision. This assumes that the simulation converges OK with both single and double precision. regards, Glenn. Vinay94 likes this.

  6. Difference between pressure outlet and outflow - CFD Online

Posts: 268. Rep Power: 17. Outflow condition assumes a zero diffusion flux for all flow variables expect the pressure. Your flow hast to fully developed. Furthermore the outflow Condition may be used if you do not know your pressure specification at exit and you want to make some weighting wither other exits.

  7. unassigned interface zone warning in FLUENT - CFD Online

    www.cfd-online.com/Forums/fluent/116888-unassigned-interface-zone-warning...

If you don't tell Fluent that an interface is connected, it is unassigned. And Fluent will have a problem. If you make them walls, or symmetry, or something else, Fluent will not complain anymore that there are unassigned interfaces, but zones A and B will not be connected.

  9. static vs. total pressure -- CFD Online Discussion Forums

    www.cfd-online.com/Forums/fluent/40268-static-vs-total-pressure.html

Absolute Pressure = Static Pressure [abs zero ref] dynamic pressure = dynamic pressure (no change) total pressure = static pressure + dynamic pressure. Note: total pressure in FLUENT is based on a difference of the operating pressure. Any time FLUENT says static pressure, they are referring to gage static pressure.

  10. [ANSYS Meshing] Failed Mesh & Poor Quality Mesh

    www.cfd-online.com/Forums/ansys-meshing/173817-failed-mesh-poor-quality-mesh.html

I am getting failed mesh (in the regions shown in attachment), the actual geometry is quite large (hidden to get a clearer view of the failed bodies). The whole geometry consists of 92 bodies and these 2 are the only ones creating problem. To use solid 187, I chose a method with tetrahedrons and KEPT. I applied the same to each and everybody ...
