Jefferson County is located in the eastern portion of the U.S. state of Missouri. It is a part of the St. Louis Metropolitan Area . As of the 2020 census , the population was 226,739, [ 1 ] making it the sixth-most populous county in Missouri.
High Ridge is located in northern Jefferson County and is bordered to the north by Peaceful Village and Parkville. Missouri Route 30 runs through the community, leading northeast 23 miles (37 km) to downtown St. Louis and southwest 31 miles (50 km) to St. Clair.
The land surrounding Barnhart originally belonged to Benjamin O'Fallon, who settled here with his family in 1834.The James O'Fallon Home was built in 1860, and was purchased in 1884 by Joseph G. Marriott, a cattle rancher who introducing the first Holstein cattle to Jefferson County.
